GOOD EAtS AROUND ELK GROVE

You’re a stranger in a strange land and as your mind craves the comforts of home, your heart longs for gastronomic adventures while your athletic bods crave fuel for victory! Humans…complex creatures we are. An enigma, wrapped in a cunundrum cloaked in polyester blend.

Fear not weary travelers, Elk Grove has some fine local fare to fuel your athletic feats while expanding your culinary horizons. These are some of our favorite places to grab lunches appropriate for athletes and dinners fit for teams. Tell ’em WZAG and the Elk Grove Aquatics Club sent you.

BRICKHOUSE

One of Elk Grove’s best local eateries. Whether it’s sandwiches and burgers you crave at lunch or something more substantial at dinner, Brickhouse does not disappoint! It’s a hop, skip and a jump down Elk Grove Blvd. Call for takeout. They’ll take great care of you and your squad.

DOS COYOTES

Oh man…me and this place go WWAaayyy BAAaccckkk. It was one of my favorite places to eat when I went to school in Davis, CA. All the burritos are bangin’ but my favorites are the chicken border and the ranchero steak. My wife and daughter are partial to the shrimp burritos…well…the whole menu is pretty darn good. For lunch or dinner, this place is healthy, flavorful and will have you calling again for more.

LEATHERBY'S

The ice cream is legendary, but it’s the soups, salads and sandwiches that make this family favorite SING! It’s a Sacramento institution and Elk Grove is lucky enough to call one its very own! Eat in or call for takeout. It’s a winner.

The earl of sandwich

Royalty in sandwich form. The earl makes one of the finest sub sandwiches around. Simple, but elegantly so. Eat it with your pinky up…I dare you.

CAfe ELK GROVE

Right across the walkway from the Aquatic Center is one of Elk Grove’s hidden treasures! This small cafe boasts some of the best eats around and they do a great job catering as well! Give them a call and get lunch or dinner for your hungry squad.

FUJIYA SUSHI

Bento boxes and rolls TO DIE FOR…not that we want you to die, of course. Call in for some of the finest sashimi and sushi rolls in town. Seasonal menus and fine dining right down the boulevard.

PARIS BANH MI

Fine French baguette + bbq pork + fresh veggies + cilantro + Jalapeño = One of the finest Vietnamese Sandwiches in town. This is one of Elk Grove’s newest sandwich shops, but don’t let that fool you. A sizable and delectable sandwich can be yours for the paltry sum of $6.50 and as an added bonus, every 5th sammich is FREE!

TODO UN POCO

This is one of Elk Grove’s finest establishments boasting an ecclectic menu featuring a fantastic blend of Italian, Mexican and Indian fare. Sounds like it wouldn’t match up, but I assure you, it’s AWESOME. Their owner, Marie, is a local treasure as well. She’s fed athletes from local soccer teams to world class cyclists from the Amgen Tour of California.

PALERMO

Fine Italian fare with a local Elk Grove Flare. From pasta to panini, this place is a culinary tour of old Italy suitable for individuals and teams!

I HEArt teriyaki

I scream, you scream, we all scream for…TERIYAKI!!! Charbroiled chicken seasoned and marinated perfectly in the finest teriyaki sauce in the known and in all heretofore undiscovered universes. A galaxy of umami in bento box form, available for less than $10!

PHO BISTRO

Hot soup? Summer Day? YYYEEEeessssss! Pho is the nectar of the GAWDS and this place is legit. Smells like my moms house when she used to stew the broth all day in preparation for the night’s meal. They also make some bomb Banh Mi as well.

NATIONAL FARE WITH LOCAL FLAIR

In addition to locally owned restaurants, Elk Grove also sports a bevy of national chain restaurants as well. We’ve collected them here for your convenience.
